Vero Beach boys’ golf course wins SFPGA rain shortened championship

The weather called off the game at Boca West Country Club on Friday, and the boys from Vero Beach after a great team run on Thursday won the title.

Led by the 66 of 5 round under medalist James Hassell, Vero Beach shot 282 under 2 with Raines Holmes shooting 1 under 70 to finish tied for seventh.

Stephen Scott shot 72 to tie for tenth and Jackson Hiller shot 74 to tie for 20th place for Vero Beach.

South Fork’s Shawn Tyson shot 3 under 68 to tie for second and the Bulldogs were tied for fourth as a team.

Tyler Foegen and Jake Navaretta each shot 74 to tie for 20th and Robby King gave South Fork a 77.

Volleyball

St. Edward’s d. Morningside Academy 25-23, 25-18, 25-19: Alexa Soderman had four aces, nine kills and 10 digs to pave the way for the Pirates (6-3). MEagan Baker had six kills, Kelly Barnett had four blocks and Elliotte Kahler had 12 assists for St. Edward’s.
