Lakeway Christian’s First Return Court | Education

A new tradition starting this year at Lakeway Christian Academy is the Homecoming Short. Our school had not had a court before due to the negative connotations around homecoming courts as a “popularity contest”. This year, Cat Norris and I, Prefects of School Spirit and Christian Life, created a new system to promote students who uphold Lakeway Christian’s core values, the PRIDE Principles, to choose from. to represent the school. We sat down with Mr. McVicker, Director of LCA, to work out the details and how this honor would come about this year and many years to come. The Lakeway Christian Academy will host our homecoming soccer game and other festivities on Friday October 1st.

After two ballots and nominations, our staff and students chose five senior and two underclassmen from each year to represent our school on the ground and in the community.

We have the five seniors who were elected to the field by their classmates from the Class of 2022:

Addie Brown, of Greeneville, will be escorted by Bensh Mendoza. Her parents are Lee and Mindy Brown and she attends Arrowhead Church – Greeneville. His favorite Bible verse is Psalm 63: 3-4.

Cat Norris, of Rogersville, will be escorted by Brody Lane. Her parents are Nina and Rodney Norris and she attends the Presbyterian Church in Rogersville. His favorite Bible verse is Matthew 6:27.

Brailyn James, of Newport, will be escorted by JJ Johnson. Her parents are Shayna and Brandon James and she attends Stockley Chapel Baptist Church – Newport. His favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13.

Riley Wise, of Dandridge, will be escorted by Brody Casto. Her parents are Chris and Misty Wise and she attends First Baptist Church in Dandridge. His favorite Bible verse is John 1:16.

Ainsley Murrow, of Baneberry, will be escorted by Landon McGuffin. Her parents are Keith and Tina Murrow and she attends First United Methodist Church – Morristown. His favorite Bible verse is Matthew 6: 25-26.

Representing the 2023 class:

Abby Goodall will be escorted by Hunter Vaughn. Her parents are Mike and Cheryl Goodall and she attends Manley Baptist Church – Morristown. His favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11.

Katie Fultz will be escorted by Max Davis. Her parents are Anthony and April Fultz and she attends the American Christian Church of Fords Chapel – New Tazwell. His favorite Bible verse is 2 Corinthians 4: 16-17.

Representing the 2024 class:

Elle Brown will be escorted by Levi Martin. Her parents are Lee and Mindy Brown and she attends Arrowhead Church – Greeneville. His favorite Bible verse is also Matthew 6: 25-27.

Patti Ann Ballinger will be escorted by Grayson McMinn. Her parents are Chad and Connie Ballinger and she attends Sevier Heights Baptist Church – Knoxville. His favorite Bible verse is Matthew 5:16.

Representing the 2025 class:

Carli Sawyer will be escorted by Riley Martin. Her parents are Brandon and Lindsay Sawyer and she attends Manley Baptist Church – Morristown. His favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 41:10.

Myla Russell will be escorted by Jay Eversole. Her parents are Shane and Miranda Russell and she attends Little Redeemed Primitive Baptist – Morristown. His favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 14:10.

As a community, we invite you to come and support our first homecoming court and football team on Friday October 1st.
