Camden Lutz to Join Western Missouri Baseball Program | High school
Camden Lutz won’t have to travel far after graduating from St. Joseph Christian next spring.
The multi-sport athlete on Thursday signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Missouri State University at St. Joseph’s Christian School.
“It’s good to stay close to his family so they can all come and support me and watch me and it really feels good,” Lutz said after his signing ceremony.
His father, Parrish Lutz, also played for the Griffins, which was a driving force in Lutz’s decision.
With the help of his father, Lutz devoted himself to his profession from an early age.
“When I was a kid I thought I wasn’t going anywhere because I was short and tall,” Lutz said. “My dad was always behind me and always took me out of the house to go hit balls and go throw and do all that. So just a lot of hard work and effort turns out to be great things to come. “
A four-year member of the Lions baseball program, Lutz stood out from the start.
St. Joseph Christian head coach Andrew McDonald said his leadership over the years has helped guide the team.
“So his first year, we had a very successful season… He was a leader in this team,” said McDonald. “He had a game of 15 or 16 strikeouts, and we could lose 2-0 or 3-0, but you knew who was the better player on the field that day. So its impact has been huge and it will only get better this year.
Lutz will play his final season in basketball this fall and baseball next spring, joining the Griffins in fall 2022.
